Cruelty to Animals — Aug. 10, 2:52 p.m.
Blanca Ivette Cartagena, 26, of New Britain, was arrested on South Road and charged under 53-247(a) with cruelty to animals. Bond set at $2,500, posted same day. Court date: Aug. 19. No word yet on the animal, but hopefully it has a better lawyer than most humans.

DUI & Right-of-Way Violation — Aug. 9, 6:29 p.m.
Shaun Pelletier, 55, of Burlington, was arrested on Farmington Avenue for allegedly ignoring right-of-way rules and operating under the influence (14-227a). Bond: $2,500, posted. Court date: Aug. 19. Likely not the first person to think “right of way” applied only to them.

Speeding & DUI — Aug. 9, 2:53 a.m.
Nicholas G. Dionne, 36, of Farmington, was arrested on Main Street for allegedly exceeding 60 mph and operating under the influence. Bond: $1,500, posted. Court date: Aug. 19. He was allegedly going fast enough to make his court date early.

Disorderly Conduct & Assault — Aug. 8, 9:54 p.m.
Tina Kristine Byfield, 56, of Farmington, was arrested on Perry Street in connection with a family violence incident. Charged with disorderly conduct and third-degree assault. Bond: $5,000, posted. Court date: Aug. 11. The kind of family drama that should come with an intermission.

Larceny — Aug. 8, 3:28 p.m.
Toriana Louise Cook, 19, of Hartford, and Shaniyah L. Harris, 23, of West Hartford, were both arrested on South Road for alleged sixth-degree larceny (shoplifting). Each posted $1,500 bond. Court date: Aug. 19. Bond was, ironically, about the cost of a decent handbag.

Total arrests: 6
